Minya Konka Trekking Expedition
Beginning and ending in the friendly city of Chengdu, this trip takes a loop route around mighty Minya Konka, once mistakenly thought to be the highest mountain in the world. At an elevation of 23,000 feet, Minya Konka is not the tallest mountain on the planet but is the highest point in the Sichuan Mountains and known locally as the ‘King of the Sichuan Mountains.’
Participants on the eight-day Minya Konka trek will learn wilderness travel and living skills during overnights in tents and days hiking the varied terrain along the trail. A highlight is sure to be the frequent interactions with the Tibetan villagers who populate the area and the group is sure to encounter throughout the trip.
Upon returning to Chengdu to recover from the hike, participants will visit the world-famous Giant Panda Research and Breeding Base, where you can get to know China’s most famous icon.
